For his second season and his first resort collection at Emanuel Ungaro, Fausto Puglisi articulated a rather unexpected concept of modern chic. “To eat a hamburger wearing a Harry Winston ring,” he said, getting more specific: Imagine ketchup splattered over diamonds. Puglisi rendered the idea not literally — thank god — but with an appealing blend of luxe and street. A blue varsity jacket with a graphically placed pleated ruffle panel was shown with a matching, floor-length skirt. He also dug into Ungaro’s archive for a pretty floral print on a gown paired with a perforated dot leather vest. That look, along with much of the rest of the lineup, infused the collection with a sporty spirit.
