Creative director Consuelo Castiglioni subverted the rules of eveningwear with her second Marni Evening collection. She worked daywear fabrics and unexpected materials into a range of beautiful pieces embellished with precious details.
Ranging from the masculine to the very feminine yet edgy, looks included sharp lightweight wool suits worn with opulent silk stoles decorated with embroideries, feathers and fox fur, and a Neoprene top and miniskirt detailed with a rich floral motif.
Bias-cut tunics in an inside-out silk satin could have veered severe, but Castiglioni paired them with maxi tulle skirts for a fairylike touch. And in her constant quest for the unconventional, the designer created a special floral jacquard raffia fabric bonded with jersey that she cut into a voluminous cocoon coat and matching miniskirt.
