Inspired by the seaside towns and beaches of the Italian Riviera, it’s no wonder that Dennis Basso focused on ready-to-wear rather than fur for resort. The clothes had a younger, hipper edge than usual but were still done in luxurious fabrics with elaborate ornamentation. A full-skirted dress, for instance, came in both a dense linen and a checked gazar. Basso threw a little mink bolero or two into the mix but it was his little dresses and a sequined one-shouldered gown that was Basso at his best.
