A collection dominated by color and pattern, particularly florals, is atypical for Narciso Rodriguez. But sometimes stepping out of one’s comfort zone yields the best results. For resort, figurative and classical floral paintings were rendered graphically, in magenta and blue layered with black, on delicate slipdresses and slim gowns, as well as jacquard pants and short, stretchy dresses. The flowers were bright, feminine and fresh but also handled with a subtle power, underscored by the stretchy jacquard knits, some in solid black and white, and geometric graphics on shirts and dresses that were reversible.
