Ports 1961 Resort 2016

Natasa Cagalj imbued her second collection for Ports 1961 with a certain purity of silhouette and a taste for the unfinished.

Creative director Natasa Cagalj imbued her second collection for Ports 1961 with a modern ease. Focusing on a certain purity of silhouette and a taste for the unfinished, she delivered a sophisticated lineup that touched on several different notes. Elegant wool mohair suits with slouchy pants had a masculine attitude, while the slightly severe appeal of an asymmetric ankle-length skirt paired with a coordinated blazer was softened by exquisite fringes trimming the jacket’s maxi pockets.

Fringes also gave a dynamic freshness to blanketlike, knitted separates and dresses crafted from various color fabrics. They had a naïve attitude also echoed in the cotton poplin wrap shirts and shirtdresses printed with arty, childish sketches and on tops embellished with embroideries made using multicolor fabric swatches. While Cagalj offered a large range of looks crafted from contrasting textiles — from playful calico to elegant silk satin — the collection felt cohesive.
