Traditional Japanese garb and botanical motifs served as the starting point for Sachin and Babi Ahluwalia’s resort collection. Japanese obis, or sashes, appeared as large waist bow ties or were reinterpreted as asymmetrical tops — one especially alluring off-shoulder version was paired with white lace pants. The belts and fanned bows aren’t adjustable, ensuring wearers get the perfect wrap every time. Large, stylized florals, evoking images from Asian prints, appeared on slim skirts and dresses, along with a cropped jacket, which was also adorned with lacy blossoms.
Despite the Asian influence, the duo’s consistent penchant for Latin American style also appeared, manifested mainly in their love of ruffles. A triple-tiered fil coupé ruffle dress radiated sultry appeal, while a black ottoman knit dress, with ruffle and scallop hem details, stood out among the special-occasion options. It was created with such a tight-stitch fabric that it acted essentially as shapewear, flattering any body type. Other design details, including patent leather appliqués on floral prints and side slits covered in lace, gave a sense of depth to many looks.
