Naeem Khan described his spring collection as “punk Raj.” Or, rather, “how to make Raj modern, flexible and salable during tough economic times.” To that end, he gave his elaborate sensibility a sportier edge with lots of options — interchangeable layers of jackets, short skirts, vests and tops. For example, he showed a Hanro tank top, embroidered with 24-karat gold, with a silk taffeta bubble skirt and suggested jeans or any wardrobe staple as an alternative. And, of course, there were beautiful, lavishly embroidered gowns and slender chiffon cocktail dresses for those ladies who wouldn’t dream of wearing anything but for their fanciest nights out.
