Mark Fast didn’t veer far from his second-skin knits, but this season he worked his designs in variety of contrasting textures. The designer said his starting point for the collection was a menagerie of birds of paradise — washed with acid rain. To wit, the designer sent out quirky color combinations: A black jersey tank dress laced with weblike patterns had a featherlike, shimmery skirt in purple, blue and orange. Another yellow jersey tank dress with cutout panels had a purple-fringed skirt, while other looks came in acid yellow, turquoise and pale blue. The collection didn’t mark a new direction, but it was expertly executed.
