Inspired by Zaha Hadid’s avant-garde architectural designs, Mariuccia Mandelli folded, pleated and tucked stiff fabrics in glistening textures into graphic cocoon shapes and dramatic ruffles in her Krizia collection. A fitted white jacket sprouted pleats from the waist, while petal folds softened the hips of iridescent blush pink shorts. Mandelli even sculpted cloque lamé into outlandish shapes, but the architectural inspiration worked best in a series of monochrome cocktail gowns and evening dresses that let the cuts do the talking.
