It was a new dawn for Berlin rising star and master of angles, Michael Sontag. In MBFWB’s opening show, new soft, geometries in cloud-lining colors billowed and floated on the runway. Sontag’s folded, draped and sometimes gathered dresses fell over the body, sumptuously simple. Vented coats, jackets and parka/caftan hybrids were paired with high-waisted short shorts, full pants and soft skirts — all loose but controlled. The young designer’s collection also left Josef Voelk from Berlin luxury specialty store The Corner feeling sunny. “He does beautiful cuts, and it’s easy and flows,” he said.
