There was a kooky exuberance in the air at Francesco Scognamiglio’s spring show, both on the runway, which was dominated by lacy lingerie looks, some overcome by giant ruffles, and off. A p.r. person intent on distributing cocktails to the Italian press narrowly missed a head-on collision with the show’s opening model, who wore what was arguably the collection’s best look: a sheer white blouse and filmy pencil skirt with a black lace inset across the hips. It was delicate and restrained, which could not be said for the rest of the collection. Scognamiglio romanced intricate lace and chiffon on slips and separates, then traced them with outsize ruffles, peplums and such that bordered on ridiculous.
