The show notes for Sportmax cited “reflections on water” as a key guiding motif — and that was certainly evident in the design team’s extensive use of iridescent fabrics and pretty, watery pastel prints. The lineup of pleasant, wearable looks included pared-down, sportier pieces, like a fitted navy jacket with black lapels or a belted white shell top teamed with a pleated skirt. But the designers sometimes got heavy-handed in their use of trims, piling metal studs on trousers, skirts, utilitarian shirt collars, even on busy prints, or adding contrasting zippers and patent piped seams to some of the jackets.
