The gymnasium floor, with powdery neon lines and a gym ladder backdrop, sent out a clear message: Donatella Versace and her Versus collaborator Christopher Kane were in an athletic mood for spring. The strong collection included abstract airwave frequency prints for tennis dresses with car wash hems, a sheer white top and trouser combination that echoed casual luxe tracksuits, and structured print dresses with black piping in the spirit of wet suits. Despite the sporty edge, the lineup lost none of the sexiness Versace is known for — it was just rendered in a younger way, with cutouts on cool pink leather jackets and zippered dresses sliced to expose some skin. Versace and Kane evolved Versus’ younger spirit nicely with these looks, which served to further set the brand apart with a distinct and relevant voice.
