A Lela Rose collection is often a seamless mix of artsy and preppy, but spring got a bit wilder given her inspiration: the decaying aspects of Coney Island and Las Vegas. It was somewhat of a reach but still mirrored in Cyclone-printed sheaths, a funky mix of mosaic prints and breezy color-blocked shorts and pants with little guipure lace tops. When they were topped with terrific swingy coats and jackets, the ladylike looks got even sportier. It was this sort of balancing act — polish and fun, refinement and sexy — that gave the collection its strength. As for evening, the fluid sheer metallic gown with cap sleeves was a beauty among some of the other looks that just had too much pouf going on.
