Mark Badgley and James Mischka showed a seamless mix of their Couture, Mark & James and Badgley Mischka lines, all inspired by a 1935 film version of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” From that conceit, the designers created their vision of spirits and fairies in a decidedly airy, gossamer presentation. “When they shot that film, they put tulle and sequins in front of the camera to create that ethereal world,” said Mischka. The designers interpreted it with beautiful Chantilly lace and re-embroidered tulle gowns, such as a strapless bustier version with side ruffles.
Badgley and Mischka can always be counted on for lovely dresses, but this season they also offered separates in the same gentle mood. The blush cellophane tweed top with a greige leather and jersey scalloped skirt was a reminder that casual has a delicate side.
