Donna Karan was informed by New York and its denizens, the kind who, as she said in her show notes, are “ready for anything.” That she looked to her hometown is hardly a surprise — it’s her evergreen inspiration. At DKNY, she interpreted the look for spring with a handful of strong essentials, including a sleeveless white blazer teamed with a full skirt, and a nylon swim top and linen circle skirt.
After recently bringing the DKNY Jeans license back in-house, Karan also played up denim on the runway with slim-cut cropped jeans and shirts that any cool girl from the five boroughs will want to add to her closet. Her logo T-shirt and swimsuit, however, distracted from the otherwise solid lineup. Better suited for tourists, they weren’t necessarily runway material.
