Having gained notoriety recently as the designer behind two of the dresses Michelle Obama wore at the Democratic National Convention, Laura Smalls showed a collection that balanced her sexy sensibility with a more restrained, ladylike (First Lady-like, perhaps?) feel with a touch of whimsy. Cotton poplin day looks were charming in white, orange and black color blocks, particularly the spliced bustier and pencil skirt and the swing dress with a cutout top.
