Rachel Roy’s philosophy is that dressing ought to look and feel effortless — hence her penchant for pretty dresses. With this season, Roy wanted to illustrate that the same kind of ease can be achieved with great separates. Enter her solid collection that focused on trousers paired with tops in appealing prints, tailored jackets and cropped pants and colorful knits over blouses. Pops of color (hibiscus, nectarine) ruled, while mixed prints added a playful element. Roy threw in a few great dresses, printed caftans and jumpsuits for good measure, saying, “You don’t have to be on vacation to feel comfort and ease.”
