A newcomer on the Paris scene, self-taught designer Simon Porte Jacquemus — perhaps motivated by his nomination for the Andam Award this past summer — showed on the runway for the first time this season.

His lineup of simple cotton and mesh dresses and skirt suits, some in stiff boxy volumes and others loosely inspired by aprons, had a naïve appeal, even if it was a little light on ideas for a runway presentation.

The collection was dubbed La maison, L’été 2013 (the home, summer 2013) and based on the cheering of his family and friends when Jacquemus took a bow, you could tell he was indeed at home.
