The set, with white doves in a decadent garden, hinted at Antonio Marras’ spring theme: He imagined designing for the daughters of René Magritte, and took cues from the painter’s graphic dove images. This resulted in a collection of crisper, more precise shapes than in the past, and an emphasis on blue and white. The latter came in floral and striped brocades that the designer mixed in a number of looks, including a charming shrunken coat and Bermudas.

Despite its new-found structure, nothing of the collection’s youthful, feminine feel was lost, as shown in the flared cotton piquet dress printed with artistic brushstrokes.
