Continuing his year-long 30th anniversary celebration, Dennis Basso — a favorite of the Ladies Who Lunch — is aiming to dress their daughters for spring.
“This new crop of women love art, so we brought it in,” the designer said backstage, pointing to a giant graphic floral gown as well as a broadtail and mink geometric pattern coat.
Keeping the collection fresh and modern, he paired little fur vests over sweet embroidered cocktail frocks and a cool python moto jacket with tiny lace shorts. “Of course,” said Basso, “all of these jackets and vests can be paired with jeans.”
But Basso did not alienate his loyal customers — there were still plenty of chic luxe toppers in an assortment of pelts, as well as dramatic dresses.
To keep the collection seasonless, Basso showed plenty of black-and-white combos, but for the girl who really wants to stand out, he tossed in some unpredictable colors, as in a tangerine, pink and blue coat.
