The bandage dress is synonymous with sex appeal, but when that iconic silhouette is the cornerstone of a collection, the question becomes, what’s next? Max and Lubov Azria found their answer this season by incorporating hard-edged elements with artful ones to mostly good results.

The show began with a flurry of zippers, up the front, around the bodice; they also edged ruffles that were fashioned into peplums and godet skirts, resulting in a nice contrast to the feminine eyelet skirts that peeked out from underneath. The duo kept their colors subdued, which did no favors for the peek-a-boo crochet numbers that veered towards hoochie, but it did allow the beautiful beaded embellishments and knitting techniques to really shine.
