African maximalism is how Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty described their latest Suno collection as they set out to “relook and reexamine how we started,” Beatty said backstage.

The duo took their girl on a chic safari with touches of tribal influences; the most obvious motif, a quirky zebra kanga used for a halter minidress and vest. Other playful patterns included an abstract floral on culottes, a circle-chain pattern on a wrap dress and neon geometric plaids on a boxy top.

While the designers are by now known for their prints and strong colors, the standouts this season were their rich jacquards, Swarovski crystal embellishments and pleating, all of which added sophistication to the tribal motif.
