Athletic meets African layering describes the main themes of Thakoon Addition’s spring collection. Printed plaid shorts featured a draped layer on the side, while two shirts — one white, one plaid — were stitched together at the waist. If the outer shirt is worn down, it creates the illusion of having a shirt wrapped around the hips, or if worn up, it looks like the two tops are layered.

“The inspiration in this collection comes from the way African women wrap and layer fabrics together,” explained Thakoon Panichgul. “Then I add a sportif element.”

That sporty element blended well with this concept — it was present in techno fabrics used in a bright-yellow anorak, a full miniskirt and a black nylon shirt.

Silhouette-wise, the marriage of the two came across seamlessly, as in a white cotton top with side drape detail and layered with a blue cropped top, then paired with blue cotton shorts that featured a ribbed waistband.
