How to dress on a perfect Paris summer day. That idea guided Paul & Joe creative director Sophie Mechaly for spring, resulting in casual silhouettes that were seemingly effortless and chic.
Mechaly cited the early Nineties work of photographers Hans Feurer and Gilles Bensimon as her main inspiration. The images were notable for their sunny, carefree attitude. Ditto these clothes, which reflected such energy with a breezy vibe, as in a crisp white top teamed with patched jeans, and a plaid shirt shown with a pink utilitarian vest and relaxed cargo pants in a floral pattern. These looks often had a boyish charm — a piece or two could easily have been appropriated from a typical boyfriend’s closet.
