Designer Massimo Nicosia took to the sea  — and the pool — for this spare and elegant collection inspired by the play of light on water.

There were fine-gauge knit tops and dresses with small, shiny mosaiclike squares sewn into them to mimic swimming-pool tiles, while a blue shift dress was dotted with big, iridescent sequins that had been folded to form a 3-D pattern, approximating sun glinting off the sea. Sky-blue miniskirts had textured, shiny surfaces made from woven patent-leather strips, while a transparent white organdy raincoat had aqua panels sewn into parts of the lining.

Nicosia continues to work with 3-D printed knits, which are made from nylon powder, including a chain-mail-like panel that he worked onto a sporty sleeveless dress and into lightweight silk sweaters.
