As the creative director of Banana Republic, a role she assumed this past spring, Marissa Webb has a new commercial outlet, which may explain some of the more daring designs in her namesake collection. Although Webb still had plenty of pretty looks, the standouts had a subtle edge — namely, the deconstructed trenchcoats that served as apronlike vests and added a cool overlay to girly flounce dresses. Webb should continue to veer in that direction.
