Athletic and tailored styles found a perfect balance in Rubin & Chapelle’s fresh spring collection. Subtly channeling an Eighties-inspired mood à la “Miami Vice,” Sonja Rubin and Kip Chapelle delivered cool, relaxed suits showing short pants and roomy jackets in a sporty mesh fabric. This season, the designers, who are usually more familiar with solids, also introduced engineered prints based on the works of German artist Edwin Michel. These peppered a range of outfits, including an unconventional loungewear-inspired column gown with lapels.
