The culture ministry unveiled a series of measures to safeguard the country’s assets, including a permanent fashion collection.
The new space will open in 2019 and showcase the history of fashion from the 18th century to the present.
Fashion curator Olivier Saillard of Palais Galliera is orchestrating the event in Paris this fall.
Items in the Palais Galliera show will include Marie-Antoinette’s corset, Napoleon’s waistcoat and a blouse worn by an unnamed First World War nurse.
“La Mode Retrouvée,” which runs from Nov. 7 until March 20, 2016, includes treasures from the Paris museum’s archive.
