Moleskine is getting into the leather bag business.
The company that is famous for its high-end notebooks is introducing Lineage, a new collection of leather bags and wallets that pays homage to the company’s heritage.
The collections are being designed in Italy by Milan-based Vittorio Venezia and they will join the two existing collections of Moleksine bags: Classic and myCloud, both of which are made from polyurethane. This marks the company’s first entry into leather and is designed to appeal to the urban traveler.
The Lineage bag collection will offer five shapes: a tote, a backpack, a reporter bag, a slim briefcase and a messenger bag. All will include padded inner pockets for laptops and tablets and smaller pockets for notebooks, planners, cellphones and keys. Metal zips and magnetic flaps will be used to secure the items inside the bags and an ivory band at the base of each is designed to suggest the pages of the company’s notebooks.
There are also five wallets including card and passport versions.
Prices range from $190 for the tote to $325 for the backpack. The wallets run from $59.95 to $89.95. They will be sold at Moleskine stores, on the company’s Web site and at other retailers such as Amazon.com.
