Derek Lam and Modo are expanding their relationship. The designer has entered a worldwide licensing agreement with the New York-based eyewear company for the design, manufacture and distribution of eyewear frames and sunglasses under the Derek Lam 10 Crosby brand.

“What is unique to ‘Derek Lam 10 Crosby’ is its intelligent sense of style combined with surprising twists on classics,” Lam said. “As with my ready-to-wear line, the Derek Lam 10 Crosby eyewear collection adds a distinctive downtown element to eyewear of highest quality and integrity of design.”

The new collection will make its debut during the International Vision Expo West, to be held Sept. 17 to 19 in Las Vegas, and will include both optical and sunwear to be distributed through select high-end optical stores and fashion retailers. Alessandro Lanaro, chief executive officer of Modo, said, “We are looking forward to positioning Derek Lam 10 Crosby eyewear as an exclusive alternative to the spirited luxury consumer.”

The designer’s main eyewear collection has been produced by Modo since 2006. Modo also produces the eyewear collections for Jason Wu and 7 For All Mankind, as well as two in-house brands, Modo and Eco.
