MILAN — Etro has signed a licensing agreement with Marchon for the design, production and distribution of its new eyewear collection.

“It’s a significant debut that represents for us a new challenge, and that gives us new energy,” said Jacopo Etro, creative director of Etro Accessories collections. “It comes from the need [for] completeness: the creation of an eyewear line is a further step in our creative and stylistic path, which contributes to the strengthening of our brand identity and heritage.”

“The global licensing agreement with Etro represents Marchon’s strategic goals to [expand] our portfolio with compelling European luxury brands,” said Marchon president and chief executive officer Claudio Gottardi.

“The team at our Italian design and product development center will work in collaboration with Etro’s designers to interpret and translate the strong identity of the fashion house, including the iconic paisley motif, in order to conceive sophisticated eyewear collections featuring the high quality of ‘Made in Italy’ manufacturing,” he added.

The first collection of sunglasses and optic frames will be available starting next September in Etro boutiques worldwide, as well as select prestigious department stores and optical and fashion stores.

New York-based Marchon already manufactures and distributes eyewear collections for brands including Calvin Klein, Chloé, Diane von Furstenberg, Emilio Pucci, Fendi, Jil Sander, Lacoste, Michael Kors, Nike, Salvatore Ferragamo and Valentino.
