MILAN — Photographer and filmmaker Francesco Carrozzini has been tapped by Children of Ra, a luxury eyewear company developing exclusive frames in collaboration with international creative individuals, to design a range of frames.
Inspired by the iconic looks of Hollywood stars, including Marcello Mastroianni, James Dean, Sean Connery and Cary Grant, Carrozzini conceived the first style, available exclusively at Children of Ra online store in a limited number of 330 numbered pieces starting from this week.
“My mission is to create frames for people who share my passion for one-of-a-kind specialty pieces. With this in mind, going forward each of my collections will be limited edition,” Carrozzini said. “This allows me to experiment freely with different styles, references, materials and colors. But more importantly, I want the frames to feel truly special and to become collectors’ items.”
The first handmade style, called Model 1, features an elegant and timeless silhouette rendered in acetate coming in a chic color palette, including honey yellow, burgundy, as well as matte and glossy black.
Carrozzini, who is the only child of late Vogue Italia editor in chief Franca Sozzani, presented his latest movie, a virtual reality film called “X-Ray Fashion” putting the focus on what’s wrong in the fashion industry, at the latest edition of the Venice Film Festival last August. Last July, the film director, who in 2016 released the “Franca: Chaos and Creation” documentary in Venice, married Anna Wintour’s daughter Bee Shaffer in Long Island, N.Y.
