Freida Rothman is adding a new category, just in time for summer: sunglasses. The jewelry designer will enter the eyewear segment with a collection of glasses inspired by her main jewelry line.
“I always dreamed [of] expanding into a lifestyle brand,” she said. “As a designer, I am known for my intricate details. I want the Freida Rothman client to envision my jewelry as it comes to life in my first-ever eyewear collection.”
Styles include: a classic “Jackie O” frame; the “Daphne,” an updated cat-eye frame; the “Alex,” a tortoise aviator frame; and the “Hadlee,” a modern shape done in 14-karat gold vermeil, a material used on several of the styles.
To celebrate the launch, Rothman will be releasing an image of one style every day for the seven days leading up to the collection’s release on July 1. The collection, which retails between $165 and $245, will be available at Rothman’s SoHo boutique, as well as on her Web site.
