MILAN — To spearhead its expansion in South America, Italia Independent has tapped Graziano Messana as managing director and chief financial officer of its Brazilian subsidiary.
This follows a partnership agreement between the Italian eyewear and lifestyle firm and São Paulo-based GM Venture, a company specialized in providing active and interim management services to Italian companies that invest in Brazil, and founded by Messana.
The move is seen strengthen the corporate structure of Italia Independent do Brasil, in operation since last July. “Brazil offers extraordinary business prospects for the products of Italia Independent,” said Andrea Tessitore, co-founder and chief executive officer of Italia Independent. Messana’s appointment is “key” to “building a solid and highly skilled team,” he added.
Messana said that Brazil, “whose optical market is worth approximately $9 billion and has recorded a double-digit growth over the past five years, is the ideal choice to develop a brand that focuses on the concept of accessible luxury.”
