Some of Britto’s most colorful patterns are reproduced — both in a glossy and matte version — on five different sunglasses coming with a range of lenses, spanning from total black to mirrored silver. A style also shows Italia Independent’s signature “Drops” treatment, consisting of multicolor paint drops splashed by hand on the frame’s front for a textured, 3-D effect.
“Britto’s visual language communicates, with simplicity, his life vision, full of hope and happiness. It’s a universal code, which became iconic through the extraordinary art works he created during his career,” said Italia Independent cofounder and president Lapo Elkann. “We share the same values, which we have always tried to transmit with our products. It was natural to finally meet to develop a project together. Our two creative teams worked with great harmony to translate the same vision in this colorful capsule collection.”
Britto’s signature appears on the left temple, while the Italia Independent logo is engraved inside the right temple.
The capsule collection will be on sale starting Saturday at the Italia Independent stores and at the company’s e-commerce site, as well as at selected international opticians. Each pair of sunglasses retails at 157 euros, or $175.
