L.G.R has tapped fashion photographer Mario Testino to help collaborate on a collection of limited edition sunglasses.
Called The Photographer’s Edition Inspired by Mario Testino, the style is handmade in Italy and features details tailored to a photographer. The lenses include 100 percent UV protection and polarized coating, infrared protection and sun-glare reduction. The unisex style also has flex hinges for added comfort.
“I wanted to collaborate with Mario Testino because we share and value the same qualities in our craft,” said L.G.R’s founder Luca Gnecchi Ruscone. “When it comes to the specifics of the lenses, glasses and cameras, we’re like-minded in such that we both are very passionate and attentive to detail.”
The sunglasses will be numbered – only 500 frames will be sold exclusively at lgrworld.com starting June 10 – and retail for $440. Proceeds from each sale will be donated to MATE, Testino’s nonprofit charity that helps Peruvian artists, culture and heritage.
This is the first celebrity collaboration for the brand, which Ruscone started in 2007. He decided to make eyewear after visiting Eritrea in Africa and searching through his grandfather’s warehouse of old Italian eyewear. The line is sold at retailers including Mr Porter and Luisaviaroma.
