MILAN — Safilo Group and Jimmy Choo have extended a licensing agreement for the production and distribution of the brand’s eyewear collections until Dec. 31, 2018. The license had first been inked in 2007 and was due to run until 2015.
Luisa Delgado, chief executive officer of Safilo, pointed to Jimmy Choo as one of the group’s top-growth labels. “The brand’s uniquely glamorous and confidently iconic style inspires us to create distinctive eyewear that has exceptional appeal in the markets where it is distributed via premium quality channels,” said Delgado. The executive added that Asia Pacific, China, and Latin America show “great potential for accelerated growth” of the brand. The agreement also reflects the “outstanding growth” of Jimmy Choo’s eyewear in all major countries, in particular Europe and North America, said the firms.
In addition to owning brands such as Carrera and Polaroid, Safilo counts licenses with labels ranging from Dior, Fendi, Gucci and Céline to Marc Jacobs and Saint Laurent.
