Tiffany and Luxottica have renewed their partnership.
The two entities are now contracted to work together through 2027, with Luxottica overseeing the development, production and distribution for Tiffany eyewear.
According to a statement announcing the license renewal, Luxottica will aid Tiffany in its time of transition — as the brand looks to receive a design overhaul from chief artistic officer Reed Krakoff.
Per its license renewal with the eyewear conglomerate, Tiffany will establish greater creative control over its optical and sunglass assortment in order to establish continuity with Tiffany’s broader scope of products.
Krakoff is to be directly involved in the design of Tiffany eyewear going forward, according to a company spokesperson.
Krakoff’s first eyewear designs were previewed with a limited release last month, when the fourth floor of Tiffany’s flagship Fifth Avenue reopened following a renovation. A wider rollout of the collection, called the Avant Premier, is slated for May 2018.
Jean-Marc Bellaiche, Tiffany & Co. senior vice president, strategy and business development, said of the deal in a statement: “Eyewear represents an exciting product offering for Tiffany. Our new agreement with Luxottica allows for a more creative expression in eyewear, with a design language consistent across categories.”
Leonardo Del Vecchio, executive chairman for the Luxottica Group added: “We are very pleased to renew our relationship with Tiffany, one of the highest expressions of luxury and jewelry in the world. Tiffany began its journey into the world of eyewear more than ten years ago with Luxottica. Together we will continue to make high style, luxury glasses that embody the best of our two worlds.”
