Perla Alessandri and Valentina Michetti

MILAN — When in February Kendall Jenner arrived at the 2019 Vanity Fair Oscar Party wearing a super sexy Rami Kadi gown which left several inches of skin exposed, most eyes were likely focused on other parts of her body rather than her feet.

However, for the record, the American supermodel was sporting a pair of leather and PVC stiletto pumps by Alevì.

In the span of a year, the up-and-coming Italian footwear brand, founded in 2018 by Perla Alessandri and Valentina Micchetti, has not only become a favorite of international celebrities, such as Hailee Steinfeld and Joan Smalls, but has captured the attention of global top retailers.

“The brand was born from our desire to create versatile shoes, that you can pack and then easily match with everything,” said Alessandri, who cut her teeth in her family’s Grey Mer Srl footwear manufacturing company, prior to teaming with Los Angeles-based public relations expert Micchetti.

While Alessandri manages the production side of the brand, which is entirely manufactured in Italy’s storied San Mauro Pascoli shoe district, Micchetti, who frequently travels between L.A. and Milan, handles the market and communication activities. Together, they design the brand’s collections.

“We put the attention on feminine silhouettes, sexy yet chic,” said Micchetti, explaining the aesthetic behind the brand. “When we design a shoe we always consider two main aspects: it needs to be easily matched with everything and it must be comfortable.”

Identified by a pearl set in the sole, Alevì shoes include signature structures, including the Stella, a stiletto pump showing a refined cagelike upper and a double ankle strap that adds stability, as well as the Bianca ankle-strap pump combining PVC and velvet.

While the footwear label is more recognized for its sensual high heels, Alevì recently introduced flat styles, including boots featuring a 5-cm. invisible wedge insert.

The U.S. and the U.K. are the brand’s biggest markets. While Alevì has an exclusive in the U.S. with Barneys New York, where it is available in 13 doors, the label is also on sale at Fwrd by Elyse Walker. In the U.K., Alevì shoes can be purchased at Harrods and Selfridges.

In addition, Level Shoes in Dubai, Aïshti in Beirut and Amicci in Cyprus are listed among the about 20 stores carrying the label.

The brand’s shoes retail from 550 euros to 800 euros for pumps and sandals, while boots are sold at about 900 euros.
