IF THE SHOE FITS: Los Angeles company For Love & Lemons is testing the footwear market after teaming with Revolve Clothing’s shoe brand Raye.
For Love & Lemons is known for its flirty, feminine frocks and, since its 2010 launch, has expanded into lingerie and knitwear sold in stores such as American Rag Cie, Nasty Gal and Planet Blue. The brand is one of Revolve’s more popular lines.
The capsule shoe collection consists of three styles, each of which is available in two colorways. The collection is sold on Revolve’s site and retails from $198 to $225.
The two companies have a history together with Revolve being one of For Love & Lemons’ first retailers. Revolve more recently tapped the brand to be the first to experiment with a pop-up shop concept — that debuted earlier this week with a 20-piece collection — at the Revolve Social Club, which opened in March on Melrose Avenue. It’s Revolve’s first foray into brick-and-mortar as the retailer is on pace to hit $1 billion in sales within the next few years.
The e-tailer’s namesake site carries a stable of more than 500 brands for men and women and its founders Michael Mente and Mike Karanikolas have long been vocal about creating strong relationships with some of those lines, whether that be through investments or partnerships such as this capsule.
There was also last year’s acquisition of Los Angeles-based Alliance Apparel in which Revolve paid an undisclosed sum in a deal that brought the brands Lovers + Friends, Tularosa and NBD into its fold.
