Can an animated mouse wear flip-flops? All signs point to “yes.”
Havaianas, the Brazilian footwear brand known for its rubber sandals, has entered a strategic alliance with Disney‘s two main U.S.-based amusement parks, as well as the Disney Vacation Club, a membership-based vacation planning program. The deal extends Havaianas’ existing relationship with Mickey Mouse and Co., having produced Disney-themed flip-flops for four years. Now, the brand’s shoes will be made available for sale to Disney guests at 22 retail locations across the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Fla., and the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Calif.
The deal includes a dedicated retail build-out at Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park, Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and Disney California Adventure Park. The brand is also working with the official Disney Theme Park Merchandise team to create co-branded flip-flops to be sold exclusively onsite.
“We look forward to creating a harmonious relationship and further expanding opportunities within the Walt Disney World Resort, the Disneyland Resort and Disney Vacation Club in the coming years,” Marcio Moura, Havaianas’ USA president, said of the deal, noting that both brands “embody instant joy.”
As part of the deal, Havaianas has signed on as the official sponsor of all run Disney races beginning in November.
