Macbeth, the footwear brand with origins in the music industry, has signed two licensing deals for footwear and apparel.
Macbeth was founded in 2002 and has its roots in footwear focused on technical design for musicians to wear while playing instruments — such as a soft sole for feeling the pedal for keyboard players. The brand is owned by Saban Brands Lifestyle Group.
Mercer House will be Macbeth’s global footwear partner. It also holds the exclusive rights to apparel and accessories in North America. Brian Krauss, founder of skateboarding apparel and lifestyle brand iPath, will be president of the Macbeth division for Mercer House. The product line will begin showing this fall.
North Hill will be the exclusive apparel licensee for Australia and New Zealand. The company began showing Macbeth’s fall apparel line with David Jones in Australia recently, and will soon show its designs to other retailers in the region.
Dan Castle, managing director of Saban Brands, said, “The Mercer House and North Hill companies are highly regarded in the footwear and apparel industries,” noting that the “best-in-class licensees” will help Saban Brands grow the Macbeth brand to the next level.
