NEW YORK — Following the announcement of its acquisition by Xcel Brands Inc., Isaac Mizrahi will unveil three new accessory categories next fall.
Footwear, handbags and jewelry will launch for the fall 2012 season, and Marc Fisher Footwear, Accessory Exchange and MZ Berger & Company have obtained the respective licenses to manufacture and distribute those products for the Isaac Mizrahi and Isaac Mizrahi New York brands.
“What we’ve been able to do over the last nine months — pre-acquisition — is line up licensees across a lot of different categories. These are the three that we’re executing first,” Robert D’Loren, chairman and chief executive officer of Xcel Brands, said. “There really is no accessories business [for Isaac Mizrahi] apart from [the] QVC [collection], and we’re bringing the category back at the brick and mortar level. We think footwear will lead it all.”
Following its Tommy Hilfiger footwear launch this summer and the reinvigoration of cult brand Sigerson Morrison, Marc Fisher Footwear is in the process of developing a launch strategy for the debut shoe collections for Isaac Mizrahi, according to Marc Fisher Footwear president Susan Itzkowitz. Planning to target major department stores, the shoes will retail from $79 to $298, with most styles retailing for less than $100.
“To us, Isaac Mizrahi is a great American designer, and we love his sense of humor and the fact that he’s timeless but still very modern. I love his pretty and polished aesthetic, and there’s some great things we can do with his footwear,” Itzkowitz told WWD.
Handbags and small leather goods will range in price from $98 to $348, and jewelry and timepieces will retail from $38 to $298 and $89 to $198.
