New Balance is jumping into the streetwear sneaker craze with a limited-edition model called the Fresh Foam Lazr Elite that will launch today.
Only 2,000 pairs of the shoes have been produced and they will be sold globally only at the company’s flagship stores and online. Although they can be used for light workouts in the gym, they are more an answer to the streetwear craze. The shoes, which are available in only black or white for men and women and feature a translucent bottom, will retail for $109.95.
“It’s a performance shoe but with a street silhouette,” a spokeswoman said.
Then on Feb. 15, the company will expand its offering with the introduction of the Fresh Foam Lazr Hyposkin. That shoe will retail for $100 and feature two-way stretch, a sock-style bootie construction and will be available in four colors.
