Perry Ellis International Inc. has licensed 33 Joints Ltd. to produce and market men’s footwear under the Farah Vintage and Farah Classic trademarks in Europe.
33 Joints intends to begin distribution of the two brands in better department stores in fall 2015. Initial distribution will be in Europe, but there are plans to expand beyond the region.
Tony Pessok, managing director of licensing and international development for Perry Ellis International Europe LLC, told WWD that other licenses for the two Farah brands will be signed “imminently.”
Farah Vintage is geared toward men ages 18 to 35, while Farah Classic is geared to men 45 and up. Antony Nathan, managing director of 33 Joints, described Farah Vintage as “one of the fastest-growing men’s fashion brands in the U.K. and Europe” and Farah Classic as “a brand with one of the most loyal consumer groups. We look forward to designing and producing inspiring but commercial footwear that will be the category killer for hybrid casual footwear.”
Perry Ellis acquired Farah Manufacturing U.K. Ltd. as part of its purchase of Tropical Sportswear International Corp. upon Tropical’s chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in late 2004.
The licensee’s brand portfolio includes Perry Ellis’ Original Penguin brand, as well as Blowfish Malibu and Firetrap. 33 Joints is a partnership company of Samsung C&T U.K. Ltd.
