Bruno Frisoni followed a bohemian trail for his spring Rendez-Vous collection for Roger Vivier. The brand’s creative director riffed on references from the late Sixties and early Seventies, citing figures like Anjelica Huston and Grace Jones as inspirations behind his Gipsy Night line.
“There is a wild, yet sophisticated side at the same time,” said Frisoni of the collection, which featured finely braided leather and tassels — as well as a fair share of glitter and glam. Sexy open-toed tasseled booties in braided black or silver leather with the label’s disco ball heel, as well as matching Viv bags, were the focal point of the collection, and probably the most commercial pieces.
But the lineup also took in a range of other looks, all the while maintaining the hippy-chic style that Frisoni seemed to relish. These included a pair of chunky red satin platform sandals with block heels – a first for the brand – and lacquered lace and bead adornments.
Meanwhile the knee-high lace-up Amazon sandals and the strappy Grace style, which Frisoni described as “a G-string for the feet,” oozed the sexual liberation of the era.
