The tents may barely be up but accessories already have gotten off to a strong start. First was Anya Hindmarch’s semiannual open house on Wednesday, complete with manicures, needlepoint kits, little sacks of fruit and — oh, yes — handbags. Highlights included leather paneling, eel skin and colorblocking. There were bags with stingray- and eel skin-trimmed hardware, reversible clutches and cotton canvas shoppers with playful illustrations that were priced at a recession-friendly $98.


Celeste and Satu Greenberg of Tuleste Market, a fresh contemporary jewelry line, were among the designers who collaborated with artist David Foote for a capsule collection — engraved jewelry in silver and gold — to be sold at the Bo Concept store in SoHo.


At Celestina, designer Tina Maristela-Ocampo expanded her line of exquisitely crafted bags and jewelry. Her signature mother-of-pearl and semiprecious stones adorned intricately woven metal bags, filigreed minaudières and crocodile clutches and totes. Next up for the Philippines native: a housewares collection for interior designer Kelly Wearstler.


Meanwhile, at Lambertson Truex, “classic but never boring” was the mantra. The house delivered more luxury wares: treated skins such as leather branded to resemble crocodile; shrunken ostrich for a quilted effect, and ombré python, which added pizazz to new and established shapes. Standouts were those reversible lightweight leather totes in rich colors — at a comfortable price point.
