Aldo Furlanetto founds Furla in Bologna, Italy, with the distribution of women’s fashionable accessories.
1955
The first Furla store opens in the center of Bologna, on Via Ugo Bassi.
1970-80
Aldo’s children Carlo, Paolo and Giovanna join their father in the company.
The first Furla-brand bag and the accessories collection are created.
The company starts the strategy of international expansion with the first store openings in Italy, France and the U.S.
1990
Founder Aldo Furlanetto dies.
Furla arrives in Japan, while other overseas stores are opened in Spain, the U.K., Germany, Hong Kong and China.
1999
The company establishes an Italian award called Furla per l’Arte to provide support for young Italian contemporary artists.
2007
Furla celebrates its 80th anniversary.
2008
Fondazione Furla is founded. Furla inaugurates its first e-commerce site and it reinforces its online distribution.
2010
Fabio Fusi is named creative director.
2011
A new expansion and innovation project begins with distribution, focusing on production and research and development of the brand.
2012
The first flagship in Bangkok opens as well as the first monobrand store in Mumbai.
2013
Furla takes on the brand’s distribution in Hong Kong, Macau and China. The company records exponential growth in Asia, with 76 percent of its 2012 turnover coming from international markets.
2015
Furla inaugurates Palazzo Furla, its showroom and headquarters in the center of Milan.
2016
Tamburi Investment Partners invests in Furla, setting in motion the process toward an eventual initial public offering.
