Move over Rihanna — there’s a new pop star in the temporary tattoo arena. Following RiRi’s collaboration with fine-jewelry designer Jacquie Aiche earlier this summer, Beyoncé has launched her own line of wash-off, metallic tattoos with Flash Tattoos.
“Working with [Beyoncé] has been incredible – she brought really original and beautiful ideas,” said Miranda Burnet, who founded Flash Tattoos in 2013. The “Beyoncé” collection consists of a pack of five sheets of original designs, done in collaboration between the singer and Burnet.
The designs are largely inspired by traditional henna designs, as well as beehive motifs — a nod to the “Beyhive,” the moniker given to Beyoncé’s committed fan base. Additional styles include lyrical catchphrases associated with the Beyoncé cannon: “Naughty Girl,” “Crazy in Love,” “Let It Bee,” “no fear,” “perfection,” “Flawless,” and, of course, “I woke up like this.”
Designed to be worn individually or layered on arms, legs, wrists, legs, hands, or on the back, the collection is done primarily in black and gold hues. “The collection is an edgier take on traditional jewelry,” said Burnet. “We wanted to focus on making a strong and empowering statement with the designs that embodied Beyoncé – fierce, fabulous and flawless.”
The collaboration comes from the singer’s penchant to wear the removable ink, having been spotted wearing Flash Tattoos while on vacation and at music festivals, such as Coachella — as well as on her Instagram (a September 2014 post featuring an armful of the gold tats has amassed more than 1.3 million likes to date). Other celebrity fans of the brand include Vanessa Hudgens, Sarah Jessica Parker, Brooklyn Decker, Alessandra Ambrosio and Katie Holmes.
The Beyoncé x Flash Tattoos collection is available now on the Flash Tattoos Web site, flashtat.com, with the five-sheet pack, containing 57 tattoos, retailing for $28.
